BASES TEEN CENTER / BASES RECOVERY CENTER

Our facility is open for drop-in traffic to those that are seeking an alcohol and drug free environment. We have pool tables, ping pong, foosball, board games, chess and checkers, cards, cable television, comfortable seating, soda machine and vending machine available. We are also available for those needing community service hours during our normal operating hours to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of our facility as well as some special projects within the facility.

ADOLESCENT SERVICES

We specialize in adolescent substance abuse prevention, early intervention and treatment services. We offer substance abuse evaluations and assessments to determine what is the best and most appropriate interventions for the young person. We provide early intervention groups, drug education groups, drug treatment groups from one to several times per week. We also offer an intensive outpatient program that involves substance abuse intervention and treatment groups Sunday through Thursday afternoons in addition to individual counseling and family sessions when they can be arranged with the teens. We also offer drug testing services during all of our hours of operation. Those with Medicaid and MiChild public insurance programs within the 21 county region covered by Northern Michgain Regional Entity (NMRE) have access to our assessments, individual and group couseling sessions at no cost. Drug testing is not covered through our NMRE contract.

BASES staff is specially trained in substance abuse, trauma and adolescent development.

Bay Area Substance Education Services (BASES) is accredited by Commision on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International for children and adolescent outpatient services as well as children and adolescent intensive outpatient services.

ADULT SERVICES

We specialize in working with low-income adults by offering substance abuse evaluations, individual counseling, group counseling and drug testing services during all of our hours of operation. We also offer driver's license appeal substance abuse evaluations. For residents of the 21 county Northern Michigan Regional Entity (NMRE) region from US 10 to Mackinaw Bridge who have Medicaid, MiChild, Healthy Michigan or Michigan Block Grant funding may qualify to have BASES services covered through a contract with NMRE. Drug testing and Driver's License Evaluations are not included in the NMRE contract.

BASES staff is specially trained in substance abuse, trauma and relapse prevention therapy.

Client Notice of Confidentiality

The confidentiality of substance abuse client records maintained by this program is protected by Federal confidentiality rules (42 CFR Part 2). Your confidentiality is also protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) (45 CFR Parts 160 & 164). Generally, the program may not say to a person outside the program that a patient attends the program, or disclose any information identifying a patient as an alcohol or drug abuse patient, unless:

(1) The patient consents in writing; OR (2) The disclosure is allowed by a court order; OR (3) The disclosure is made to medical personnel in a medical emergency or to qualified personnel for research, audit, or program evaluation; OR (4) The patient is a danger to themselves or someone else; OR (5) In the case of abuse to a child or an elderly person.

Violation of the federal law and regulations by a program is a crime. Suspected violations may be reported to the United States Attorney in the district where the violation occurs. Federal law and regulations do not protect any information about suspected child abuse or neglect from being reported under the state law to appropriate state or local authorities.
